Digital Game Cameras
Digital Game Cameras
This lens was designed for digital game cameras enthusiasts looking to get the most out of their digital scouting cameras. Get helpful tips and tricks for getting more and better pictures from your game camera. I have been an avid outdoors man for quite a number of years and spend a lot of time outdoors. I am a game camera enthusiast, and currently own about a dozen game cameras. During the hunting seasons, I use my cameras to pattern game on various properties that I hunt on. Outside of the hunting seasons, I still use my scouting cameras as a hobby. I love capturing unique photos and videos of wildlife in the environment. I have also used my game cameras as security cameras, to monitor property for trespassers.
There are many different brands and models of scouting cameras on the market. The price ranges run from inexpensive to very expensive, and everywhere in between. You don't have to spend a lot of money to get a decent camera, but you can spend a lot on premium brands or for models that offer extra bells and whistles. Most of my trail cameras cost between $100.00 to $200.00, but I own some that cost more and some that cost less. The best piece of advice I can offer to anyone looking to purchase a scouting camera is to become familiar with the models that are available, determine what it is that you want to do with your game camera, and select a model that fits your specific criteria.
Game cameras are much more than just a tool designed to increase a hunter's success. The use of a scouting camera will quickly become a hobby in itself, and is a great way to extend your time in the woods, both pre-season and post-season.

What Good is a Game Camera?
Game cameras are great tools that have many uses. Here are just a few of them:
- Home Surveillance
Game cameras can be used to catch vandals, to monitor entrances and exits, and to keep track of any activity where digital surveillance is needed. They are great for monitoring your land for trespassers, when you can't be there to protect your property. Many people use them to monitor their external buildings as well as entrances to their property. Because these cameras run on batteries, they are great for surveillance in locations that you do not have an electrical outlet.
- Survey Deer Population
Game cameras are excellent for surveying the deer population in desired areas. State Fish and Wildlife agencies are even using them to perform population studies. Hunters can be more confident sitting in a tree stand, when you know the number and quality of deer or other game on the property. They are great for trophy deer hunters, and can give you the confidence to pass on shots on smaller deer when you know that there are bigger deer in the area.
- A Great Hobby
Scouting Cameras give you an excuse to spend more time in the woods, pre and post-season. They are a great way to extend your time outdoors with family and friends. I use my game cameras as a year-round hobby, and love capturing pictures and videos of wild game in their natural environment.
My Game Camera Videos - My Best Buck Video
This is the best buck video that I have gotten with my Scoutguard SG550. This video was taken on a small wood lot behind my house in the suburbs of Louisville, KY. I'll be watching for this buck when the fall bow season comes in. He should be a monster by then.
My Game Camera Videos - Unique Video!
Here is a unique video I got from my Scoutguard SG550 of some does fighting. I've been capturing a lot of footage recently of deer showing aggression towards each other.
Game Cameras for Sale - Here are some of the highest rated game cameras on the market today.
One good way that you can determine which model of game camera is a good one to buy is to look for models with the highest average customer ratings. These ratings typically range from one star to five stars, with five stars being the best. A thing that I have learned through many years of testing and writing about trail cameras is that outdoors men won't pull any punches when commenting about their outdoor gear. If they love something, they will let you know why. If they don't like something, then they will rate it poorly and usually go on a rant about why they rated it poorly. User ratings from people that own and have used a product can be a great source of information.
